Flash Animation:
Forever Autumn was submitted to Newgrounds in early August of 2006, making the Frontpage and earning the Daily Feature award, bringing a satisfying end to my series of movies involving nuclear war. My next major projects were Directors Cuts of both Operation Centerboard and Bright Eyes. It was my goal to improve the graphics in both features and to alter some of the scenes to better fit the overall tone. I set to work on Operation Centerboard first, making major changes to almost every scene. Work on Bright Eyes started several months later in late-2007, but the revamp was not completed until mid-2008 due to my work on a novel tentatively titled 'The Project.' Overall, I am much more satisfied with the Directors Cut versions of Operation Centerboard and Bright Eyes, and have removed the originals from DeviantART in light of this fact. However, the originals can still be viewed on Newgrounds for those who want to compare the films.
Digital Artwork:
With my work on lengthy Flash animations over for the most part, I have now devoted my time towards Photoshop and the production of digital artwork. My first major works in Photoshop were depictions of some of the main characters from the aforementioned novel that I began in November of 2006. Approximately 90,000 words and 192 pages later (Calibri single-spaced!), Book One of 'The Project' was complete, and we set down to begin work on revisions. As of 2009, however, 'The Project' is on hiatus as we consider a number of improvements. Nevertheless, my latest piece of digital artwork as of this posting is an updated portrait of a character from 'The Project', Jennifer Reed, so activity linked with the novel continues in one form or another.
With 'The Project' on the backburner, I began preliminary work on a new novel called 'The Herald.' This mainly involved setting down ideas for the characters and outlining the plot in my head. I decided to take 'The Herald' in a Lovecraftian direction, stemming from an early idea for 'The Project' that had fallen at the wayside. The protagonist of 'The Herald' is Alexandra Bedford, who you can see in one of the digital paintings in my gallery. The plot takes place in a post apocalyptic United States and concerns the Cheyenne Directorate, which Alexandra works for as a military telekinetic, and their attempts to wrestle control of the country from the New England Alliance. So far, a solid plot outline is completed and about 40,000 words of a projected 110,000 have been written. Additional digital artwork from this project should be forthcoming in the near future, including Alexandra's father and the commander of the Directorate's armed forces, General Henry Bedford, an old friend of her father's and current deputy of operations in New York for the New England Alliance, General John Martin, and Agent Jack Ellzey, an assassin who works for the Cheyennes Executive Committee. I may also post a prologue to 'The Herald' and one or two of the early chapters once I am further along in the project's development.
